A Brief Summary of the Church History
This Church began with a prayer meeting held by some dedicated Christian men and women who moved to Stamford from Brooklyn in the late sixties and the early seventies in search of work. After a few months, they called on Rev. Jean-Baptiste Thomas of the French-speaking Baptist Church of Brooklyn, NY, for leadership and guidance. In July 1974, Reverend Emmanuel St.Juste immigrated to the US. In October 1974, he assumed the leadership responsibility of the chapel upon the recommendation of the Brooklyn Church and the approval of its members. The new Chapel experienced rapid growth by becoming a Missionary Church. Under the hands-on, we planted seven Churches in CT, three in NY, one in FL, one in France, and Fourteen in Haiti.
In addition to this remarkable development, we founded the Center Of Hope Haiti, a great Philanthropic Organization for orphans, the poor, and the disadvantaged children of Haiti, dedicated to fostering the livelihood and hope for the future of the children of children of Haiti by providing shelter, education, nutrition, emotional security, healthcare, and life skills for the children and their caregivers. The 14 churches in Haiti serve under the Hope Evangelical Baptist Mission umbrella established in 2003 by the International Missions Ministry. Today, the French-speaking Baptist Church of Stamford is Connecticut’s most prominent Haitian Congregation and one of the largest Haitian communities. Rev. Dr. Emmanuel St.Juste and his wife, Marie Gladys St.Juste, have served the Congregation for 50 years. PRAISE THE LORD!
